Junior Camps

The Irish RP Junior Camps were all held online this summer and young people from Airdrie, Glasgow, North Edinburgh, and Stranraer attended. In addition Rachel Nelson from North Edinburgh was a leader at Girls Discovery Camp. Some of the young people tell us about their experiences below.

Girls Discovery Camp

What was your favourite activity?
Elena: The baking was the best bit because the flapjacks tasted delicious!

What was something you learned from the talks?
Elena: I learnt that God has plans for me, and I’ve not to worry about coronavirus.

What was the best part of Camp this year?
Elena: I like the film at the end showing everybody doing the activity, baking and making the craft.

We asked Rachel Nelson about her experiences as Camp leader.

Rachel: Even though GDC this year was very different than usual, it was so great to see pictures of lots of our girls tuning in to our daily thoughts for the day and activities, and some of them meeting up with their friends to do so together. It is so exciting to see girls taking the opportunity to fellowship together at this young age when I know from experience that these friendships will serve them so well in the future! Hearing of how the girls were also going through the books we sent them, on how to develop personal quiet times, was so encouraging.

We had lots of good feedback from parents on how their daughters enjoyed the week, and we praise God for how He has used our humble efforts to bless and encourage these precious souls and pray that it will bear fruit in their lives, and that we will see them back at camp in person soon!

Boys Discovery Camp

What was your favourite activity?
Daniel: My favourite activity was the ‘what happened next’ challenge.
Jacob: Making and launching a rocket using vinegar and bicarbonate of soda.

What was something you learned from the talks?
Daniel: I learnt that we aren’t to judge one another and to encourage each other.
Jacob: The theme of the talks was “One Another”. I learned it is important to forgive, love, encourage, pray for, and not to judge one another.

What was the best part of Camp this year?
Daniel: Best part of camp was getting to see the pictures of my friends on the blog and the talks.
Jacob: The activities even although we were at home, and getting a surprise letter with tuck shop sweeties and a book token in it.

Girls Adventure Camp

Hannah: I learned that God is immeasurable, and that his knowledge is too high for us to understand. The best part was being able to have our talks and receiving our book/package.
