New Elder and Deacons in Stornoway

Recently, the Stornoway congregation of the RPCS were privileged to receive one new elder and three new deacons into office.  This decision had been made at a meeting of the Kirk Session in December 2022.  The reason behind this was that three of the existing four elders were getting advanced in age and could do with the help of younger men. The election took place in January 2023 and the following were chosen for office and agreed to serve as elder and deacons respectively:

Mr Cliff McElhatton as elder, and

Messrs Colin MacDonald, Alasdair Campbell, and Calum John Macleod as deacons.

The ordination and induction took place on Sabbath 12^th February 2023.   The minister, Rev Kenneth Stewart, preached a most searching and challenging sermon from Romans 12:11 on “ not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.”

The Kirk Session now stands at five and the Deacons Court now number four.  We are profoundly grateful to the Lord  that we have men in our congregation who have both the spiritual and natural gifts which make them eminently suitable for office in the Church of Christ.  It is our sincere prayer that the Lord will continue to endow them with more and more of His grace for service in His Church.
