Public Presbytery Meeting

Presbytery met on the 13th June at Glasgow RPCS. In the evening there was a public meeting with folks from all the Scottish congregations. Rev. Peter Loughridge, the Presbytery Clerk, gave an update on the work of the Presbytery throughout the year. He highlighted the Presbytery visitation to Stornoway, the beginning of evening services in Brikama RPC in their new building, and Airdrie’s 200th anniversary celebration, as well as the ongoing need to pray that God would raise up men to be elders and deacons in so many of our congregations. He also announced that the Scottish RP Church has been gifted a Covenanter flag that was flown at the Battle of Bothwell Bridge. Rev. John Coates (Kellswater RPCI) brought greetings from the Irish RP Church, speaking of the many encouragements that he had observed in the Scottish church, and then talking of the need for ministers in light of many vacant congregations in Ireland, but also giving thanks for 5 students for the ministry at the Theological College in Belfast. Rev. Bruce Parnell (Stillwater RPCNA) brought greetings from the American RP Church speaking of their various encouragements in seeing new churches planted as well as various challenges with an increase in judicial issues needing to be dealt with at Presbytery and Synod level. Rev. Parnell also gave an update on some of the global mission work of the RPCNA. After the meeting there was a time to fellowship with those from the other congregations over tea and coffee. We give thanks for all that God is doing in His church both here and farther afield.
