Senior Camp 2025

Five young people from Airdrie, Glasgow, and North Edinburgh recently attended the RPCI Senior Camp in Northern Ireland. We asked them a few questions about their week away.

What was something you learned or that really made an impression on you from the talks?

Jacob (Airdrie) – The talks were on ‘The Church of Jesus Christ-Your Church’ and were done by Rev. Paul Wallace (minister in Bready RPCI). One thing I learned was we have to remember that when we are in church that due to God’s presence within the service the church building is filled with God’s glory, even though physically it might not look like it (because of general interior warts) -Psalm 26:8, Matthew 18:20.

Emanuela (Glasgow) – I learned lots of things from the talks, but talk 1 about the Church having to be central to our lives made an impression on me. It’s so easy to get distracted in our busy day to day lives, and so the Church is easily not central to our lives. Mr Wallace emphasised the importance of the Church’s centrality which made me realise that perhaps the Church isn’t really at the centre of my life. So that had an impression on me and made me think!

Grant (Glasgow) – The talks were on the church of Jesus Christ and were incredibly interesting. Mr Wallace spoke a lot about how the church was central to God’s affections and questioned us on whether or not the church was central to our lives or if it was simply part of our routine and just something which we felt we had to do. He spoke of churches trying to capture the glory of God using lights, emotions, or senses within church but the reality is that the church is glorious past, present and future and we should rejoice that this is the case and that every time we come together in worship, the Lord is also gathered together with us.

Elena (Glasgow) – The talks were about the church and something that made an impression on me was learning about the true glory of the church.

Hannah (North Edinburgh) – We all have different gifts, and we are all needed in our church; even when we feel useless, we are not.

What was your favourite activity?

Jacob – Going to Splash NI – which is a big inflatable water park with different obstacles to jump over and to push people off of into the water.

Emanuela – I really enjoyed the chill day on Tuesday! The inflatables and games were really fun.

Grant – My favourite activities from the week were probably the away days we did to “Splash”, a waterpark with inflatables on it, and an afternoon we spent doing escape rooms in groups with our friends trying to rack up the best score possible.

Elena – My favourite activities were the away day where I went to splash waterpark and the ultimate challenge rooms.

Hannah – Messy games and competitive sports.

What was your favourite thing about camp?

Jacob – Meeting more Christians but also having fellowship with some of the older campers with more experience of going to uni/college. Also due to the amount of people at the camp the psalm singing is something always looked forward to throughout the camp.

Emanuela – I loved getting to make new friends as well as being reunited with old ones! The talks were also really encouraging as well as challenging. I also loved the activities! So I have a few favourite things about camp!

Grant – My favourite thing about camp was probably the free time we had when we were able to spend time with friends, socialise, and have fellowship with one another. I also loved the discussion groups which we had after the talks, I felt like they were incredibly useful for delving deeper into what was discussed at the talks.

Elena – My favourite thing was getting the opportunity to make some new friends and get to know more people.

Hannah – Meeting up with old friends and making new friends, being with other Christian friends, and having fellowship with each other.
