We've started a new series this week in our Let's Worship God booklets. What are these booklets? They have a Bible reading passage, notes written…

The Young Adults Weekend is held annually by the Irish RP Church at the start of September. This year Hannah, a member of North Edinburgh RPC, attended, and we interviewed her about the weekend.
The weekend started on Friday with the first talk followed by ice breakers that went on quite late. After that there was a bonfire or board games or folks could go straight to bed. Saturday morning we had the second talk followed by a hike or free time. In the afternoon we had two seminars, and then we went into Newcastle for ice cream. On Sunday there was the last talk followed by a Psalm Sing, and then we went our separate ways.
The talks were by Rev. Nathan Hawthorne, and they were on Made for More: Friendship with God, One Another, and the World. One of the things that really stood out to me was that as Christians we need to have non-Christian friends, as well as Christian friends, so we can influence them and help share the Word. The seminars were on Hospitality and Friendship Characteristics. The Hospitality seminar made the point that there are different ways to show hospitality- it’s not always about having people for a meal – it can be just going out and spending time together.
I went on the hike on Saturday thinking it could be my last hike for a few years (at the time Hannah was scheduled to have major surgery on her legs which has since happened and gone well), and I really enjoyed it – it was really fun!
I went to the Young Adults Weekend not knowing how many people from Senior Camp would be there, but I realised when I got there how many I knew from GO Teams I had been on as well as Camp – it was quite nice to meet up again.
This weekend is not as activity based, it’s more talk based – it’s a different experience than Senior Camp, but I enjoyed it, and I would recommend it!
