November Good News

The November edition of Good News is now available to download.

November is here and so another edition of Good News is here, the last of this year. Let me just highlight a few articles for your attention.

Tim Donachie addresses the issue of the authority in the church. I hear more and more about either elders who abuse their authority or people who accuse elders (who are simply being faithful) of spiritual abuse. It is important, as always, to think Biblically.

Our final article from the RP Global Alliance is here. I want to thank RPGA for organising this series – it has
been beneficial and thought-provoking. The final article deals with Christ’s kingly rule and global missions. For our Presbytery this encouragement is timely as we engage in work in the Gambia.

Stephen Steele and I continue our series on a particular Reformed Presbyterian distinctive – the implications of the continuing obligation of our covenants. Dissent is a Biblical duty as we will explain.

And finally, Mark Loughridge begins a series on apologetics. The title of this first article, Speaking for
Christ in a Changed World, strikes a chord. The world has changed which makes engaging people often more difficult. We seem to have less and less in common with non-Christians, particularly in regard to our worldviews. In the past our conversations could start with some agreement, but that day is gone. Apologetics may in a sense be harder, but that shouldn’t mean we hide away or disengage with others.
